Prof Mariappan has PhD in Health Systems Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He is currently working as a Professor at the School of Management Studies, The Apollo University, Saketa, Murkambattu, Chittoor, Andra Pradesh. He has taught a number of courses, guided research, and conducted training and capacity building, at various levels over 30 years. He has done 40 research and consultancy projects and 25 publications. He has been a member of various professional and academic bodies and organisations. He is a Certified Assessor of National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), Past Member of Appeal Committee Member of NQAS, Internal Quality Assessor of NABH, qualified six sigma Black belt holder, expert member of the Policymaking on Patient safety Group, NHSRC, MoHFW, and an Expert member of Policy Making of Human Factors in Patient Safety, WHO.
